Bissan Rafe

Is an American artist of Palestinian origin. She studied biological science with an emphasis on biological psychology.

Throughout her research, her work has been featured in a variety of solo and group exhibitions worldwide particularly in Japan, Northern Europe, and the U.S.A.

Bissan's collection invites the audience to experience a vibrant clash of colors, a visual story blending science and art. A subtle contrast of tangent colors wrapped in Neurogenomics, folklore, and culture.

In the past decade, she has been working on an independent cumulative case study (The Perfect Work) in search of the universal folklore spanning four pilot case studies in Asia, Europe, and North America.

The study uses artist residencies and independent travel to research the culture of a particular region (through archives, interactions with the elderly, visiting and studying historical monuments, participating in exhibitions and cultural exchanges amongst many other things).

Her medium of Choice: Metal Sheets, Wood, Canvas, Sumi-e-Ink, India ink, Oil colors, Wax, and Metallic Paint.
